This article appeared in the July 30, 2006, Las Cruces Sun-News back-to-school edition under the headline “All Aboard at New Elementary,” introducing Sonoma Elementary School as it prepared to welcome its first students and begin a new journey in learning with LCPS.
Nearly 20 years later, the Sonoma train is still rolling. Thousands of students, families, and staff have climbed aboard over the years, each adding their own memories and helping move the school forward.
As Sonoma celebrates 20 years, everyone who has been part of the journey is invited to share a short video message. Former staff, alumni, families, and even students who started at Sonoma and are now in middle or high school are encouraged to record a quick memory.
